Confoil's NEW range of film lidding targets small to mid size food manufacturers.
A range of high performance heat seal lidding film, for ready made meals, combines excellent barrier properties with easy peel has been launched by Confoil.

Aimed at the small to mid size food manufacturers, Confoil’s heat seal film offer, provides small roll lengths with minimum order quantities, reducing the financial outlay and the inventory risk to these companies. Confoil’s rolls of continuous heat seal film specifications originate from the Dupont Mylar OL product range. The films are a biaxial orientated polyester film with an amorphous polyester heat seal layer. The heat seal film is available in two different thicknesses, 13 and 25 micron and offer specifications with anti-fog properties and corona treated for printing purposes. The films boast high clarity, are designed to be self venting and are dual ovenable (suitable for both conventional and microwave applications).

The range of heat seal films offer peelable seals to a wide range of polar materials including its self, APET, CPET, PETG, polyester coated board, polycarbonate and PVC.

Films can be sealed at a wide range of temperatures between 140°C - 200°C. Film seals instantly but reaches full seal strength approximately one hour after sealing. All film specifications offer freezer to oven convenience.

Confoil Melbourne has moved to a new, fully renovated, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located at 491 Mountain Hwy, Bayswater.

Established in 1966, Confoil has grown to become the only Australian based manufacturer of aluminium foil and paperboard trays, supplying Australia, Asia, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand. The move to the new location has provided significant opportunities for Confoil. The manufacturing facility follows world’s best practice with large scale automation providing significant safety, efficiency and quality benefits. The larger site allows for consolidation of all Confoil’s local printing and warehousing facilities into the one location whilst allowing room for future growth and expansion. The re-location also further supports Confoil’s ongoing commitment to the food service industry as we strive to provide the best facilities in food packaging production.

Confoil’s product offer includes a wide range of Australian manufactured products and services designed specifically for the food service industry. Our products continue to be backed by Confoil’s renowned technical expertise, quality and HACCP standards.

Confoil - Environmental Responsibility

As a long standing signatory to The National Packaging Covenant, Confoil takes their obligation of preserving the environment very seriously.

As Australia’s only manufacturer of aluminium foil containers and pressed paperboard trays, Dualpak®, to the food industry, Confoil takes its obligation of preserving the environment very seriously.

Confoil has been a signatory to the National Packaging Covenant (NPC) since 2002. The National Packaging Covenant is a voluntary initiative by Government and Industry, to reduce the environmental effects of packaging on the Environment. It advocates principles of REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE while minimizing waste to landfill and conserving energy.

A key achievement for Confoil since becoming a signatory to the NPC has been the development of a culture of environmental awareness and waste minimization. Confoil monitor many aspects of our daily business operations to ensure we minimize our impact on the environment. We collect data on energy consumption and greenhouse emissions, annual usage of photocopying paper, recycling rates of cardboard, paper, bottles and cans, collection of foil scrap as a % of production, raw material utilisation, compressed air consumption, waste to landfill, efficiency of freight utilisation and much more.

Confoil is always striving for continuous improvement. A recent project involves systematically assessing large volume aluminium foil containers with a view to achieving packaging minimisation. Using world standard alloy technology and tool design, Confoil aims to manufacture a light gauge foil food container whilst retaining the strength, integrity and aesthetic appearance of the traditional wrinkle wall aluminium foil trays.

DINE® claims Bronze in the 2008 PCA Packaging Awards

Added On - 16-12-2008

DINE® continues its winning way with a BRONZE award in the 2008 PCA Packaging Awards - MNV Family of Packaging category.

Congratulations to MARS Petcare Australia on their BRONZE award in the recent 2008 PCA Packaging Awards. DINE® took home the MNV Family of Packaging Award for their entry titled DINE® Dome Range. Entrants to this award category were challenged to create a synchronous family of products. The judges on awarding the BRONZE placing for this category made the following comments: “Dine excels in its use of colour. A decidedly different selection of intense colours in unexpected combinations gives a totally unique effect at point of sale, and connects the products to each other in a distinctive family story. Each family member undeniably belongs to the Dine stable, through repetition of colour scheme, hero cat imagery and signature graphics. Flavour variants are clearly differentiated by colour and type, and the links work equally well across small portion packs, multiple dispensers units and large bags. Colour is remarkably constant and expertly printed, and despite real challenges in shape, substrate, size and shelf presentation, this diverse collection of packs convey a powerfully singular brand statement at point of sale”. Packaging component manufacturer, Confoil Australia, supply the pre-printed aluminium dome smoothwall tray. Confoil is Australia’s only manufacturer of aluminium foil trays and marketing manager, Colin Foster, says DINE's award highlights a new packaging trend. "Traditionally, wrinkle wall foil trays have been the product of choice but recent innovations in the range of smoothwall aluminium trays are increasing their popularity in a variety of market sectors," Foster says. "Originally targeted at the jams, pate and pet food sectors, the introduction of large family sized 1kg – 2kg trays have found a niche in the growing home meal replacement market." Smoothwall foil trays are heavy duty but lightweight in construction offering an aesthetically pleasing product presentation which appeals to consumers. The trays are manufactured with a smooth rim (flange) for application of heat seal film producing a leak-proof, hermetic seal. In response to an immediate request for assistance, Confoil quickly organised pallets of bottled water and cartons of aluminium food trays to be despatched to the tireless workers of many CFA divisions. Confoil then nominated a further $10,000 to be donated to fire affected areas. The employees of Confoil were asked to submit recommendations of how they would like to see the money distributed. Confoil is on the move! From it's beginning in a small Ringwood factory, Confoil has grown to become the only Australian based manufacturer of aluminium foil and paperboard trays, supplying Australia, Asia, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand. Strong growth and a successful acquisition plan have resulted in Confoil out growing the current purpose built, modern manufacturing facility located in Canterbury Road, Bayswater. Established in 1966, Confoil has 40 years of history as a Bayswater business entity and with the majority of the 200 strong workforce coming from the local community, it was a priority for Confoil to maintain a presence in the area. Confoil successfully bid on a factory complex situated at 491 Mt Highway, Bayswater. The Confoil Board view the purchase of this site as a positive step forward in the operation and growth of the company. The site is significantly larger than the current site. The additional space will provide an immediate solution to the current space and workflow problems, allow for consolidation of all local printing and warehousing facilities into the one location whilst allowing room for future growth and expansion. Confoil's move to the new premises in anticipated to take place in mid 2009, with the facility currently rented until early 2009.
