Australian food packaging manufacturer, Confoil, has implemented a ramp up of production of Smoothwall trays at their local plant in Melbourne. A multi-million-dollar investment in new presses has significantly increased capacity per annum of Smoothwall and Smoothwall Aspire trays.
“This substantial investment has been driven by growth and demand of our popular Smoothwall and Smoothwall Aspire trays in black and gold,” explained Confoil CEO, Alison Buxton.
“We are seeing an increase in interest for locally produced packaging. Especially in the areas of ready-made meals, ready-to-cook meal kits and pre-prepared cuts of meat.”
Confoil is a proud, privately-owned Australian business. Many of the staff have been with the business for decades and 50 years on, the family legacy continues with daughters and sons of the original founders still actively working in and managing the business.
“Local manufacturing is important to us on a number of fronts,” added Alison. “We are supporting local jobs, supporting local community and producing products which adhere to the highest quality standards. Our products also travel less distance than imports so they are a better choice all round.”
Smoothwall and Smoothwall Aspire trays are made of extra tough, heavy gauge aluminium with a smooth flange to accommodate heat sealing or clip-on lids. Smoothwall trays can go straight from the fridge or freezer and into the microwave or oven and are strong and durable enough to hold their shape.
Available in a wide range of sizes, including three new sizes, they are made from 100 percent recyclable and endlessly renewable aluminium foil.
Australian-made Smoothwall and Smoothwall Aspire trays are the perfect accompaniment to any local fare.
